My Weekend Through Instagram...

This weekend was pretty busy. Everyday this weekend we tried to do something fun with the kids. As much as I wanted to stay in my pj's all weekend I felt it would be selfish of me. Man I miss those days! On Saturday we went to Knott's Berry Farm. We have passes which is great because we don't feel like we have to stay the whole day. We usually go for about 3 hours and then we leave.

Sunday was a real busy day, we started by going to church. At church there were several service men there in their uniforms. It was so cool and I couldn't help but feel emotional and patriotic. Cristian is really into being a soldier right now. I tried to get him to get his picture taken with one of the military men but he was shy and Frank told me not to embarrass him. I remember my mom embarrassing me all the time so I said "Fine". After church we went to go see the movie Epic. It was OK...not to give too much away, but there was one character in the movie that I felt was forced, because it didn't make sense. You'll have to see it to know what I'm talking about. After the movie we went to my friend's daughter's birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese in Orange. On our way home we always see this guy playing his drums right there out on Santiago Canyon Road. If you're not familiar with Santiago Canyon Road, it's a two lane highway through the canyon. I always wondered why he plays out there. Maybe his mom, girlfriend or wife won't let him play at home so he probably feels like he can play as loud as he wants out there...interesting. Anyways this time a photographer was there snapping pics of him drumming away.

Then on Monday we went to Zoomars in San Juan Capistrano. I had a Groupon that I had forgotten about and thought this would be a perfect time to use it. The Groupon was $20 for four people and I got two tickets for the train ride and two tickets to mine for rocks and fossils. The Groupon was definitely worth it. It's a fun little place to pet the animals, but I wouldn't have paid anymore then what I paid for the Groupon.

Throughout all the activities Frank and managed to rent and watch Django Unchained and The Intouchables. Both movies were really good! I'm a nervous movie watcher so there were parts of Django where I had to leave the room , but overall it was a good movie. The Intouchables was a nice feel good movie. It was very touching and highly recommend it.

Guilty Pleasure - Small Town Security on AMC

Best new reality show on AMC - Small Town Security! It's trashy, weird, strange, just bad bad bad but I love it! I stumbled upon the show while laying in bed and I couldn't get enough! I watched 4 episodes back to back and Frank was about ready to strangle me, but I just could not turn the channel.

The show is about a small, family owned private security company in Ringgold, Georgia. The cast of characters are a hoot! They are weird but entertainingly funny to watch. You can catch them Thursday nights 10/9c on AMC.

Target Thursday #6....

Sorry for my lack of posting people. Life has been busy and I've had a lot going on that I didn't have any time or energy to dedicate to my blog, but I do appreciate everyone that visits my blog and reads my posts!

Ok on to the fun stuff!! Check out my Target outfit below...

Dress - Merona Clearance $19.59 was $27.99
Sweater - Merona old - raided from my closet
Belt - Xhileration old - raided from my closet
Shoes - Xhileration old - raided from my closet

Total Look - $19.59

This outfit was inspired by a Mad Men mixed track from 8tracks.com - "Hanging out with Megan Draper" mixed by nothingisreal. "Zoo be zoo be zoo..".....I can't get that out of my head!

Say Yes To The Dress At Target - Tevolio Bridal Collection

Target recently announced their new bridal line called Tevolio which is inspired by the Italian phrase "Ti voglio", which loosely translates to "I love you". Their dresses range from $69.99 to $129.99.

When I got married I was 4 months pregnant (yes I am a sinner) and I bought my dress online from Fashion Bug for $69. I don't think they have a bridal section anymore and at that time that was a bargain, but it was so hard to find something because I was very limited  - 1) I was preggers and 2) I was on a major tight budget. If Target had their bridal collection back then, they would have been the first place I would have checked out.  You can check out the full collection on Target.com

Have a great night! xoxo

I Loooovveee Gold...

Remember when Goldmember from the third Austin Powers movie would say, "I looooovvvee gold"! I love saying that..."I loooovveee gold"!

A couple of weekends ago I came up with this cute idea of making magnets out of gold spray painted plastic animals. On other blogs I've seen others paint plastic animals and using them as party decor or as party favors. I think they look real cute and what a creative and inexpensive way to add some interesting detail. I liked the idea so much that I decided to make mine into magnets.

Remember the terranium project I did with my kids several weekends back, well I took the left over plastic animals that I bought and decided to use those for my magnet project.

I took some gold satin spray paint that I had leftover from another project to use on my plastic animals. You can use any kind of metal paint.

I placed the animals on a paper plate to spray paint on as well as a large shopping bag to protect my outside patio table.

Here are all the little animals swimming in a sea of gold

As you can see from the picture above I had to spray paint about 3 coats on certain animals because the color of the plastic was still showing through.

Once they were all dried see how pretty they turned out!

I then went to Michael's and bought these magnets for $1.59. I glued one magnet on the side of the animal that I was going to stick to the magnetic surface.

And voila! Look how pretty my magnets turned out! I'm using them here to hold up a picture of me and my husband in my work cubicle.

I love how the seahorse turned out...that's my favorite one :-)

Have a great night everyone! xoxo

Mother's Day Weekend Update...

This weekend was H O T! And on top of the heat Frank is currently not feeling good and is suffering from a horrible sore throat. If I was melting in the heat he was feeling miserable...poor guy. Even though he wasn't feeling good he had made the effort of making breakfast reservations for Mother's Day at El Torito. Even though the reservation was at the crack of dawn I still give him hugs and kisses for his effort.

Look at Cristian's face in this pic...he's a crazy kid and makes me laugh all the time!

Sofia is so lovable! She loves giving hugs and kisses. She is the most bossy, sassiest little girl but she has the biggest heart and is very sensitive.

My mom was a single mother raising me all by herself. Not only is she my mom but she's been my dad, my friend and the biggest pain in my ass at times, but there is no one like her! She helps me with my kids and loves them with all her heart. There are times they prefer her over me but I don't mind. I felt that way with my grandmother when I was growing up, so to see the special relationship my mom has with my kids makes my heart fill with love.

Hope you all had a great Mother's Day!

I've read some mixed reviews on the quality of the materials used on the shoes, but I think they look cute. And like I said I haven't been to Target yet to check them out in person so I may have another opinion later, but that won't keep me from buyin Honey! Check out the full collection here.

Date Night - Santa Ana Artwalk...

Frank and I had such a fun date night at the Artwalk in Downtown Santa Ana on Saturday night! We sipped cheap wine and looked at some amazing art! The Santa Ana Artwalk is held the first Saturday of every month.  Most of the art studios and lofts within the Artist Village and surrounding are open to the public for free. Also in the Artist Village Courtyard there are booth/tents where artist can sell their jewelry, pottery pieces and prints as well as a DJ spinning and solo artist singing. Click here for a map of artwalk

This was our first artwalk and we definitely will be going back again!

Here are a few of my favorite paintings that were on display...

Elephant in the Room

The Collectors

Church on Route 66

The paintings in this t-shirt store were painted by young Hispanic artists. When you walk through the store to the back room it was a cool art gallery where there was a DJ spinning Spanish rap music and selling Tecate Beer for $2. The paintings were super cool and I felt like part of an underground following.
I loved it!

On the lower floor of the Santora Building, located in the village, there were these really small art galleries and studios. I thought the Art Bar was really cool (I realized I'm saying super cool alot but I can't help it!). It's a hands on mixed media art studio opened to everyone. The Art Bar was created by Nicole Steiman. She is a self taught artist who was previously was a corporate trainer. If you plan on visiting the Art Bar make sure to sign up for their open sessions so they know your coming.

When Frank and I walked out into the street we still had our little white Styrofoam cups filled with wine. As we walked down the street  saw the intimidating police men on their horses and thought we should hang back and finish our wine. So we hung out in the shadows of  a store front drinking our "illegal" open cups of wine, because now we were rebels! After hanging out with cholos, hispsters, and artists we felt like we were bad to the bone! I felt like I wanted to start a band, shave the side of my head and show off my tramp stamp tattoo, as I drank wine from my little Styrofoam cup. Here...I took pics of us feeling that way...

Then midnight rolled around and we turned into pumpkins. We thought when we got home we could start the after party but we were greeted with wide awake kids yelling "Mommy, Daddy!" and my mom looking relieved we were home.

It was super cool (karate chop kick) night! xoxo

Angelyne the Billboard Queen...

As a little girl in the 80's I used to see this lady with big boobs on billboards all over L.A. I would ask my mom, "Who is that lady"? and my mom would say really fast, "Don'l look"! Her name was Angelyne and I remember she was always in pink. I then found out that she drove a pink corvette and it reminded me of the Barbie car I used to own. Now when I'm in L.A. I don't see her billboards anymore. Whatever happened to her?

I Googled her and I came across this article on PopSugar from June 2011. Everything else I found on Google were just star sighting pictures of her around West Hollywood, looking older and hiding her face from the paperazzi. What an interesting person she was.

Happy Monday! xoxo

Happy Friday!

It's Friday! Yeah Yeah Yeah!! (Picture me jumping up and down waving my hands around). This weekend is going to be pretty busy, but that's fine by me....I live for Fridays!

Tomorrow night my husband and I are going to the Santa Ana Art Walk. We've always been wanting to go but never got the chance to, so we made a point to check it out this Saturday night. All the galleries and lofts in the Santa Ana Art Village open up their spaces the first Saturday of every month. The downtown area has really been up and coming with cool little hip restaurants and bars. I'm excited to be checking it out this weekend.

Anyone have any plans for Cinco de Mayo?? We are going to a couples shower for my talented friend Greta Valenti and her fiance Robin Davey. She and her man run the band  Well Hung Hearts. They're super cool people and I'm so happy for her and Robin! You can check out their music here.

I saw this picture on Facebook and it totally made me laugh! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Target Thursday #5..

Last weekend the weather was so gorgeous! On Saturday my son had his first soccer game during the day and then later on that night I met my two best friends, since we were 8 years old, for dinner at The Cannery in Newport Beach. It was such a nice evening, we sat outside and watched the boats in the harbor as we ate and talked the night away.

A couple of weeks ago I came across this really cute spring / summery dress in the clearance section at Target as well as scoring this necklace on clearance. When getting ready for the evening I wanted to be casual yet cute and I thought this was the perfect dress..(excuse my son's scooter in the background)

Dress - Mossimo Supply Co. Clearance $16.08 was $22.99
Necklace - Target Jewelry Clearance $11.88 was $16.99
Gold Bangles - H&M old raided from my jewelry box
Purse - Vintage raided from my closet
Shoes - Payless Chelsea Flats by Lower Eastside $16.99

Total Look $45.86

The THRESHOLD Look..

During most of my Target "browsing" I also like to check out the home stuff as well. I especially like to check out the Threshold pieces. They sometimes remind me of Anthropologie but on the lower end of the pricing spectrum. Check some goodies that caught the corners of my beady little eyes...

Threshold Gold Candle Hurricanes - Small $14.99, Medium $19.99, Large $24.99

Threshold Gold Accent Side Table $59.99

I love that side table! I'm going to wait a little longer to see if it goes more on sale. Just like the saying - good things come to those that wait!
